Teci nace de la síntesis del metlapil de piedra empleado en el metate para moler maíz. Una superficie de madera de tzalam se apoya en un soporte cónico de recinto representando la unión del trabajo en piedra del artesano Enrique Hernández con el del equipo de diseño de Daniel Romero y Onora. Dim 60x60x60cm .
Xochitl (del nahuatl flor) nace de la combinación de conocimientos y experiencia para trabajar la piedra y madera de cada especialista. La tecnología industrial permite lograr un soporte resistente de madera flexionada que remite a las expresiones plásticas de la flor, mientras que la superficie y disco interior son talladas completamente a mano en recinto. Dim 45x45x40cm. La madera proviene de bosques de explotación sustentable y está acabada con aceites naturales libres de tóxicos.

Daniel Romero Valencia (CDMX, 1982) es un diseñador industrial mexicano por el Centro de Investigaciones de Diseño Industrial de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Es uno de los socios fundadores de Tuux, un estudio de diseño con capacidades de producción orientado al desarrollo de proyectos sustentables, coherentes y con responsabilidad social. El equipo interdisciplinario de colaboradores está conformado por diseñadores, científicos, carpinteros, deportistas, empresarios y otros profesionales educados en diversas partes del mundo con reconocimientos nacionales e internacionales y con gran experiencia en el ámbito de la sustentabilidad y el diseño de vanguardia.

Project details:
The concept of Teci arose from the synthesis of the stone “metlapil” used in the “metate” to grind corn. A tzalam wood surface rests on a conical enclosure support that represents the union of the stone work of the artisan Enrique Hernández with that of the design team of Daniel Romero y Onora. Dim 60x60x60cm.
Xochitl (which means flower in Nahuatl) is born from the combination of knowledge and experience to work stone and wood by each specialist. Industrial technology allows for a sturdy bentwood stand that references the flower’s plastic expressions, while the surface and internal disc are completely hand-carved. Dim 45x45x40cm. The wood comes from sustainably exploited forests and has toxic-free natural oil finishes.

Daniel Romero Valencia (CDMX 1982) is a Mexican industrial designer from the Industrial Design Research Center (CIDI) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is one of the founding partners of Tuux, a design and manufacturing company that develops coherent design projects with a keen environmental and social responsibility. The interdisciplinary team is composed of designers, scientists, woodworkers, athletes and entrepreneurs, with members trained in Mexico and abroad, who stack international design awards and professional experience in design, sustainability, manufacturing and project management.
