Project title: Hybrid Pallet for Cargo with Interchangeable Covers
Project details:
GT Pallet combines innovation, functionality and aesthetics, using recycled plastics and remanufactured wood in its assembly, thus generating environmental and economic benefits, such as reducing products damaged by pallet performance by up to 50% (ISTA 1E). The challenge was to design a palette that managed to balance functionality-efficiency-cost while highlighting its aesthetic design. Design Thinking and Circular Economy were used as conceptual framework. In its design, the strengths and weaknesses of the existing pallets on the market were analyzed, that is, in accordance with the requirements of ISO and ASTM Standards. The aspects to be improved were defined: Structural (rigidity-resistance) and Conceptual (aesthetics-functionality-durability-cost). Its performance was validated in the CPULD of Virgina Tech, USA.
