Project title: Gate, Santaella Ferré Residence
Project details:
In 2017, Category 5 Hurricane Maria crossed the island of Puerto Rico, destroying a large number of assets and properties. My client’s residence received a direct impact — losing its front gate (and more than 50% of the vegetation) in the process. The replacement, graphically inspired by plant architecture, has a dual purpose to both offer security and an identifying marker. Constructed of stainless steel, the structure was produced to survive its proximity to the sea.
