Guanaco To English “an illustrated dictionary” is the first volume of a series of illustrated dictionaries of Salvadoran slang translated to English.
The main goal of the dictionary is to showcase part of the Salvadoran culture for tourists so that they can cherish it in a positive and different way. It is a dictionary that seeks to change the country’s disreputable image around the world.
Guanaco To English, also seeks to create a community on social media of “guanaco speakers” who feel proud of being Salvadorans or become curious of the country.
Studio Profile:
Diego Argueta is a 29-year old, Salvadoran graphic designer and illustrator. Entrepreneur by nature, designer by vocation, illustrator by heart. Branding and social design specialist, he has worked as a brand manager and graphic designer for an international NGO for more than four years, leading projects and campaigns at a regional level. He starts his own individual project, “Guanaco To English” in 2019, combining his social vision and talents with the goals of boosting his country’s reputation, El Salvador.
