Project title: Shoal Parrots
Project details:
The project is about the pictorial intervention of 52 boats with the fishermen of the small town of Pepillo Salcedo, located in the bay of Manzanillo (Dominican Republic).
The ships were painted inspired by the shapes and colors of the Parrotfish, one of the most relevant species in the Caribbean marine ecosystem as it helps preserve to the preservation of corals, and which is currently highly threatened by illegal fishing .
The Pepillo fishermen were the first to sign a pledge not to fish it. Through the restoration of the boats, we seek to make the relevance of that treaty visible and raise awareness of the importance of preserving the marine environment, not only for the development of fishing areas but for the entire planet.
